Does anyone know where I could get half a dozen marshmallow shooters in town for dirt cheap?

12/19/09 10:20 am - [info]annablume

I went to see the Ballet of the Dolls' Nutcracker (Not So) Suite last night. It's full of spectacle and wonder. No, really. It's sort of like a disco-drag-show-Vegas-style-ballet-Christmas-bonanza. With an extra shot of espresso and a cherry on top. I am currently of the belief it is the most entertained you can be for twenty-seven dollars. I kind of want to go again tonight.

I registered for classes yesterday. Currently, I'm signed up for a class on the history of Hollywood and an interpersonal communication class. Oddly, it's the Hollywood class that's leaving me nonplused. I would much rather take interviewing theories (conducting communication research), but it's full. I waitlisted it. I was also hoping that my classes would be on Monday and Wednesday so that I could participate in Yoga for Transformation this January. Looking into summer, there are classes that I need scheduled in a way that I could do the four days a week for six weeks thing again. It was hell, but it's so tempting to get things done in a hurry.

I have the opportunity take my Wednesday night final on Monday during the day, but now I'm not sure I'll be ready.

Is there anything better than getting Etsy packages every day in the mail? I'm very pleased about having done the lion's share of my shopping online Etsy this year. Sure, it feels like a good thing to do. But most of all, the presents are so nice. I can't wait to give them away. I'm missing a present for tonight tonight and that is a bummer, especially since it's for a kid and it's a personalized item. But whatevs. Overall fantastic experience! I've left some pretty dynamic feedback, I'm so blissed out.

So, I was walking out of the bathroom stall here at work and there was an agent standing in there crying. I tried to ask her if she was okay, and she just nodded and kept her hands over her face. I took the hint. It was at that exact moment that my phone rang - Feliz Navidad. Awkward.

12/17/09 08:38 pm - [info]travellight - Delusions of being a foodie.

Sunday I went to my breakfast place and was seated next to a pair of students from Emory, a man and a woman, in their early 20s.

From the way they sounded, I could tell they weren't from around here.

From what they said, I could tell they weren't even from this dimension.

My breakfast place is just a step up from a jernt, and it's definitely Southern Food.

They asked many, many questions:  what type of fruit? is the coffee shade grown? are the eggs organic? are there nitrates in the bacon?

And then, dear reader, the piéce de la résistance: Are your grits good?

I looked up from my magazine, over my little glasses up there, and asked How would you know?

I just located Levi Foster.

12/17/09 11:30 am - [info]zinniz - Quick project

Just made some French press felted slippers this week. The knitting took less than 3 hours, and just a bit more time to sew them up and felt them. They're super sqishy and soft because I made them with Malabrigo. I definitely recommend this pattern for a quick project. My advice though: don't felt the tab very much. It's best when it's left longer, and if you leave it in until the slippers felt, it will get pretty short.

My bows are the envy of the envy of the entire neighborhood.

I judge you by the ribbons you keep.

I'd like to say I had the presence of mind to go to bed early last night because I had to work early today, but the truth is I lay down for a nap after dinner and didn't wake up again. I was supposed to study for a test and make cookies. The good news is that I don't feel absolutely depleted and sick today like I normally would being at work by five. I am hoping to leave work by three to study for my test tonight. Cookies can be made tomorrow.

Is it just me or is this the longest week ever? I suppose I hit forty hours sometime yesterday morning.

My weekend is posing to be just as hectic as my week. I have to make the cookies, study for my finals, clean the house in preparation for the parental onslaught, go to yoga, have energy work done, meet with my advisor at the University, register for spring classes, go to the Ballet of the Dolls Nutcracker (not so) Suite, work an extra shift, and wrap all my Xmas presents. I'm tired just thinking about it.

I do like that Christmas comes whether we are ready for it or not. And in case it wasn't clear, I'm not.

I'm not opposed to your dirt track races. I've been known to enjoy attending more than one of them.

I'm just saying.

I have bought all of zero presents so far this year. Unless you count the fancy new phone I just bought myself and the ridiculous amount I spent on fancy light switches. Do girls like high tech light switches?
